Since 2012, Giving Tuesday has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, volunteer, and celebrate generosity.  Giving Tuesday takes place annually the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving.  In the United States in 2023, an estimated 34 million people participated donating $3.1 billion dollars.

At Second Harvest Food Bank of Southeast NC we will have distributed over 18 million pounds of food to neighbors facing food insecurity in 2024.  Donations received on Giving Tuesday will help us prepare emergency relief resources for natural disasters such as Hurricanes Florence, Matthew, and Helene. Donations will also assist with programs such as our Backpack Buddies for school-aged children, Harvest of Hope Senior boxes, and providing food to our partner agencies throughout the seven counties we serve.

Giving Tuesday donations are accepted from 9:00 a.m. November 25 until 5:00 p.m. December 4, 2024.

Donor Advised Grant – Make your grant recommendation payable to Cumberland Community Foundation (tax id 58-1406831) and designated for Giving Tuesday. Make sure to provide CCF a list of the organizations you are supporting and the amounts.

Stock Gifts – Call Cumberland Community Foundation for instructions: Maddie Kellogg (910) 483-4449 ext. 107.

Charitable IRA Rollovers – Donors 70.5 or older may make gifts directly from their IRA to Cumberland Community Foundation for GivingTuesday. To ensure prompt gift acknowledgement, give a call Maddie Kellogg (910) 483-4449 ext. 107.

Correct Check Format

• In order to ensure that CCF is able to deposit your checks and properly credit the gift to Second Harvest Food Bank SENC, please ensure all checks meet the following criteria:
• The check is made payable to the order of: “Cumberland Community Foundation” or “CCF”
• The words “Giving Tuesday” and “Second Harvest Food Bank of SENC” are included in the Memo line.
