WHO WE ARE

The leading domestic hunger-relief organization in Southeast North Carolina.

At Second Harvest Food Bank of Southeast North Carolina, we work tirelessly to fight hunger one day at a time. We serve seven counties in our state, diligently partnering with over 200 nonprofit organizations to distribute food daily to those in need.

We were founded in 1982, as a program of Action Pathways, Inc.

Currently, the Food Bank secures, stores, and distributes more than 16 million pounds of food annually. This food is generously donated by major retailers, local wholesalers and warehouses, other food banks, and through food drives held by individuals, businesses, schools, and civic organizations. Additional food, including fresh produce from small, local farms, is purchased for our programs.

We are a certified member of Feeding America – a network of 200 Food Banks across the county and a member of Feeding the Carolinas.

Feeding America is the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief organization, comprised of 200 food banks throughout the United States. Second Harvest Food Bank of Southeast North Carolina is proud to serve seven counties as a member of the Feeding America network. This contracted relationship assures both financial and operational excellence. It also provides accountability through network training, site monitoring and the maintenance of substantial records verifying conformity to established Federal and State safe food handling standards.
